Singapore Travel Tips & Insights

Singapore is the largest port located in Southeast Asia, consisted of the Singapore island and some 60 small islets. Singapore is situated near the equator and has a typically tropical climate, with abundant rainfall, high and uniform temperatures, and high humidity all year round.

The official currency of Singapore is Singapore dollar (SGD). Visitors will have no problem changing their US dollars for Singaporean currency in any of the many moneychangers or banks throughout the island. ATMs are located all over the city-state – every bank, MRT station, or shopping center has its own. Most machines allow Visa or Mastercard withdrawals.

Singapore Changi Airport is the only international airport, which is famous for the international herb airport in Asia. Both UK and US citizens can catch direct flight through Singapore airlines, and furthermore, UK citizens are available for the direct flight through British Airways and Quantas.

US Passport Holders (regular, official and diplomatic) do not require a visa to enter Singapore for business or for social visit purposes. All foreign visitors, however, must ensure that they meet or possess entry requirements as stated by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

Under Singapore’s laws, arriving travellers are required to declare and pay the duty and Goods and Services Tax (GST) to bring in dutiable and taxable goods exceeding their duty-free concession and GST relief. This is applicable whether the goods were purchased overseas or in Singapore.
