This journey outline is by no means fixed. As the traveller takes centre stage in our planning – from the type of lodging to daily activities – your journey will be crafted to suit you.
Arrive in Yangon and take a private car transfer to Loikaw, the capital of Kayah State in Myanmar. There, your guide will take you on a beautiful historical trail with a local guide. Hear stories of the Kayah’s ancestors, their beliefs in spirits, and the importance of the totem pole and herbal medicines. Enjoy stunning views and stop for a delicious picnic lunch along the way. Continue on the trek to villages where handicrafts and sculptures are made. End your first day in Kayah Village, where you’ll meet some long neck women and learn about their traditions. Drive back to Loikaw to wind down with Kayah’s special sundowners.
After breakfast, head to a town where animist traditions are practiced. Spend some time with the community and learn about their culture and beliefs before getting on an oxcart — a typical form of transportation in Myanmar — for a scenic ride to the beautiful Seven Stages Lakes, where a traditional Kayah BBQ lunch awaits. After lunch, enjoy panoramic views as you cruise along the vast Pekon Lake back to Inle Sanctuary Resort in Phaya Taung.
This morning, wander through Phaya Taung Village with your guide and learn about the community and their daily way of life. Spectacular lake views surround you as you journey to the south of Inle Lake to explore the bewitching Samkar village, temples, stupas and ruins. Venture on to visit the Hmawbi temple, floating gardens and stilt villages.
Embark on a 2.5-hour hike to Pa O Village. Pa O inhabitants are distinctly known for their navy blue clothes and bright red or orange turbans, as well as their expertise in farming and trading. Immerse yourself into the lives of the villagers and learn about their daily routines, sample their local dishes and meet the local monks.
After, continue on your hike through ginger and turmeric plantations, stopping to admire the stunning lake views and surrounding landscapes. Board a private boat and head back to your hotel for dinner and some R&R.
After breakfast, take a private transfer to Nyaung Shwe town in Shan State for a thrilling day of exploring and excursions by bike, boat and kayak. Travel through lush fields of flowers, secluded monasteries and tranquil bamboo forests, meeting friendly villagers and farmers en route. After lunch, a long-tail boat will take you back to your hotel.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your private transfer to Yangon International Airport for your flight home. Mingalaba!
